The first Powerball lottery tickets went on sale in 1994, and the state added Mega Millions in 2010. Since November 2004, proceeds from lottery ticket sales have been allocated to the Nebraska Education Improvement Fund, Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund, Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund, and Nebraska State Fair.
If you don’t live in the state, you can still visit an authorized lottery retailer to take part in the state’s lottery games.
What happens if my ticket is stolen, damaged, or lost?
The Nebraska Lottery is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen tickets. Keep them in a safe place. Signing your ticket helps prove you own it in case you lose it.
How long do I have to collect my winnings?
You have 180 days from the date of the draw to collect your winnings.
What lottery games can I play in Nebraska?
You can play Mega Millions, Powerball, 2by2, Lucky for Life, MyDaY, Pick 3, and Pick 5.
How and where can I claim my Nebraska Lottery winnings?

Can I remain anonymous if I win a lottery prize?
No. The Nebraska Lottery requires winners to disclose their identity, city of residence, and prize amount. However, your contact details and address will never be made public.
We suggest that you consult a lawyer before claiming any big prizes, however, as it may be possible to claim your prize through a trust to retain anonymity.
Can I buy lottery tickets in advance?
Yes. You can purchase tickets in advance for a number of consecutive draws. Check our Advanced Draws section for more information.
Can I purchase tickets by phone, online, or mail?
No. You need to buy your lottery tickets from an authorized retailer.
Here’s the process for claiming Nebraska Lottery prizes.
In-person claims at the North Platte and Scottsbluff claim centers require an appointment. Call the claim center where you wish to claim your prize to schedule your appointment.
